Tufnol Rod is a centrally, spirally wound, laminated engineering plastic that has very useful advantages over other plastics. Different grades of Tufnol rod are made using many different laminates and resins enabling Tufnol to produce products with differing abilities. Tufnol Rod can be produced using phenolic soaked, high grade paper laminates which are suitable for electrical applications. Tufnol Rod can also be produced using phenotic cotton cloth, these grades are very good for high wear applications and are very tough, these grades can be lubricated with water during service. Other grades include epoxy glass and silicone glass, these grades are the more mechanical grades and have improved temperature resistance. Tufnol have been producing their laminated plastic range for more than 70 years and have a range of grades which exceeds 40 and continue to produce high quality engineering materials.
